People, especially Pinoys, love to take photos, selfies in
particular. Maybe to flaunt his outfit
for today, to share what makeup/skincare products she used on her face for the
day, to let his network know where he’s spending his vacation, or just to share
a relevant quotable quote. LOL! Whatever
our purpose is, I believe we were able to take even just a single snapshot of
ourselves for others to see.
During my school days, I’m a self professed selfie addict. I
admit it! It was crazy to think that I
really got fond of myself taking pictures upon waking up, before going to
sleep, or if I’m having a great time outdoors. But now, I take selfies with
caution. I must have a CONCRETE PURPOSE
why I posted selfie shots. I am aware
that some people doesn’t want their social network feeds clogged with pictures
of my face in different angles.. hehehe! That’s why, just wanted to remind you—hinay
hinay lang when taking and posting selfies ok?
Anyway, let me share to you some problems (well they’re not
really problems, maybe disadvantages or inconveniences) that you can encounter in
taking selfies:
One, that awful “selfie arm”. For me, this can ruin a good selfie’s photo
composition.
Two, limited composition.
For example, you’re in Boracay.
And you’re alone. You wanted to take a picture of you with the
magnificent beachfront view. Your selfie
shot wouldn’t be wide enough to capture the totality of the scenery because you
holding the camera had set the limitation.
If only you can extend your hand further, it can possibly capture the
whole view. But you can’t. Sorry.

Three, don’t you just hate it when you wanted to take a
decent groupfie (group selfie) shot, you have to set the camera phone to self
timer mode, you have to look for a perfect spot to place your camera in order
to have everybody’s face captured, then upon pressing the shutter button you
have to run for less than 5 seconds so that you can join the group picture?
Oh, those #SelfieProblems.
Finally, mankind has come up with a solution—the Selfiepod. Armed with a reliable Bluetooth remote
shutter. Equipped with a 3-in-1
universal clip-on mobile lens.
I got these stuff from the @theperkyshop, you can find and
follow them on Instagram. These goodies
are collectively called “The Perfect Selfie Package”.
The selfiepod/monopod is expandable up to around 3
feet. You place your Bluetooth enabled
camera on its head, secure it by tightening the monopod’s knobs, then you’re
good to go. It's compact and lightweight, you can carry it anywhere, by hand or through your bag.
The Bluetooth remote shutter eliminates the need to put your
camphone on self timer mode.
In my case, I have my Samsung Note 2 paired with the
shutter. See screenshots below:
I “road tested” these two last week. They were used the most during our Sunday service
at Jesus Is Lord Church Music Museum Greenhills and at Polytechnic University
of the Philippines. Our worship team
loves to take group pics after a spirit filled service :). The groupfie session made it more fun-ner
with our pastor posing a picture with us, and our guest that time—Hebrew worship
leader and artist Joshua Aaron :) I could say, the monopod and shutter
eliminated the selfie problems I’ve mentioned earlier. What do you think?
And oh, for the lens…. I was able to own a set before but
you have to put metal adhesives and magnets on your phone in order to have the
lens attached. Very time consuming. The 3-in-1 universal mobile phone lens can
work on any phone. It’s clip-on
functionality made it user friendly—attaching lens to your camera phone is a
breeze.
The lens kits comes with a pouch that serves also as its cleaner |
First off, the wide lens, taking from its name, can take
shots that are 0.67x wider than what your camphone can capture. You have to
screw it along with the macro lens which serves as its base.
Without the wide lens |
With the wide lens |
Macro lens, can take detailed, close up snapshots of things. The lens can make small things, big.
Fisheye lens can capture ultra wide sceneries and can
produce an interesting output, even on selfie shots.
The items are priced at the following figures if bought
separately from @theperkyshop:
Monopod – Php 750
Bluetooth remote shutter – Php 850
Clip lens – Php 650
Combo - Monopod+Clip Lens – Php 1,300
